MIIS Licensing vs. Moore’s Law

If you’re in the ICT space, you are familiar with hardware specs of computers, CPU’s, ….
Already in 1965 Gordon E. Moore, a co-founder of Intel, made an observation that the speed of an CPU doubles every 2 years (… sort of …, all details in Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore’s_law)
Nowadays this evolution seems to slow down for a single CPU, but still…
Servers and even desktops get equiped with multi-core CPU’s, hyperthreaded, …
Clever guy, Moore.
Keep the law in mind if you’re installing MIIS on such a machine…
Because, MIIS is licensed on a CPU basis.
Not on a ‘core’ basis.
(I’ll keep you posted if this strategy is changed.)
A little time ago, there was an interesting discussion on the MS MIIS forum.
